Second..

Hmmm,

so i've posted my mission, which can hopefully be understood as when i type sometimes i think ahead of myself and look like mumbojumbo :o)

and i think ill post a good link for an introduction to how an insulin pump works for those who haven't head of the magical machine :o)

http://www.medtronicdiabetes.com/pumptherapy/whatispumptherapy/howitworks.html

Link contains a good understandable explanation and isa good one to browse around to sok all the info you need

Starting Blog...

I was diagnosed exactly a year today with type 1 Diabetes..

I've been injecting With Novorapid and Lantus 4 times a day for 8 months, Before that i was using Novomix30 twice a day.

Over the past few weeks I've come to realise theres a better way to control diabetes (for me anyway) and that is with an insulin pump...

Sooooooooo,

i start my research, and find you can't just go visit your doc ask for one and walk away with your prize,

ooohhhhhhhhh no.

you have to meet certain criteria, you have to research how it works, think if you are dedicated enough to manage one, you don't just fit it and push a button...

with reading how it works.. watching videos on YouTube and seriously thinking about it, i found the more i read, the more i wanted one!

then i read that it is estimated only 1 in 1000 people with Type 1 diabetes in the UK has one...

this at first didn't register... until i read that the figures in other countries are significantly better... Germany 1 in 7 and the U.S 1 in 8...

aaaaaaaaaanyway...

the point of this blog is to document the journey to getting one (if i do succeed)

i must have been on thousands (okay maybe less) of websites to gain all the information i need, asking people on forums for advice i couldn't find anywhere else,

so i plan to hopefully but it all into one place,

guidelines, criteria, NHS funding, how it works etc...

so this is effectively day one, the absolute final decision to Get myself an insulin pump,

this is Ebony's mission... a mission for an insulin pump Waheyyyyy!!
